Launch of the Polish press digital collection
We invite you to the launch of the digital collection of Polish periodicals published in Brazil from the end of the 19th century to the second half of the 20th century that were previously unavailable online. The creation of the collection by the Center for Polish Studies at UFPR ocurred in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland and is co-financed with funds from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
Our launch event will feature lectures by Prof. Dr. Izabela Drozdowska-Broering (UFSC) and Prof. Dr. Rhuan Trindade (UNICENTRO), with the aim of familiarizing the public with the richness and importance of the Polish press in the history of our region. It also emphasizes the value of periodicals as an object of study, hitherto little researched, for various areas of research, such as history, linguistics and literary studies.
The event will take on 21/11/2024 (Thursday) at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) on the UFPR campus and remotely on the Youtube channel of the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras UFPR and can be accessed via the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJvbAb0EMzI.
Qorpus Journal Special Issue: Polish Literature and Culture.
We are pleased to announce that the Special Issue on Polish Literature and Culture of the Qorpus Journal was published today. The journal is made up almost entirely of contributions from teachers and students of the Polish Studies at the UFPR.

Note: at the last minute, votes of solidarity with Ukraine were included (just after the cover and credits), with some translations that were not included in the summary. If you want to see it, you need to download/access the full version.
This special issue documents in some way the work that has been going on for 13 years in the Polish Studies at UFPR, and I am extremely happy that it includes, in addition to the contributions of my colleagues Alicja Goczyła Ferreira and Marcelo Paiva de Souza, texts by our graduates: Eneida Favre, our first graduate and now a translator, Luiz Henrique Budant, Márcia Kovalczyk, Milena Woitovicz Cardoso, Sara Adriana Voltolini and Jonathan Mendes Caris. In addition, we were able to count on contributions from students from the Polish Studies, other Language Courses and the UFPR Graduate Program in Languages.
With the exception of one translation, all the texts presented here were born within the framework of our Polish Studies at the UFPR or have their origins directly related to its work. This issue serves as documentation of the development that has taken place in the field of Brazilian Polish Studies over the years, since the course was founded. However, it should be borne in mind that this issue does not directly reflect the work that is also taking place in the area of linguistic studies and Polish langauge teaching, and is therefore only a fraction, a sample of everything that is being done.
